The Anti-Corruption Court has ordered Uganda National Roads Authority’s former Administration Officer Incharge of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Amon Tumwesigye to defend himself on 5 Counts that include Abuse of Office, Embezzlement of Shs 2.6M, Causing Financial Loss, Forgery and Uttering false documents. Up to nine people have been sentenced to pay a fine of Shs 200,000 each for defying Presidential Curfew Orders and Directives. Kampala City Hall Court Grade One Magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise said if any of them fails to pay the fine, he/she should serve one month imprisonment. They were convicted on their own plea of guilty to charges of disobedience of lawful orders issued by President Yoweri Museveni in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Kampala City Hall Court has issued Criminal Summons to the Independent Presidential Candidate Rtd Lt Gen. Henry Tumukunde to appear before it on 21st December, 2020 and stand trial on charges of Unlawful Possession of Firearms. Ntungamo District has registered their first COVID-19 related death, The Ugandan Wire has established. The deceased identified as Jackson Rubuga aged 62 died on Friday in Kampala where he had been admitted two weeks ago. He was a resident of Nyakabungo Village, Rugarama Sub County Rushenyi County Ntungamo District. The body of the Late Rubuga arrived at his ancestral home on Saturday at 5:06 pm and was immediately buried by personnel trained to bury COVID-19 victims and the burial was attended by a few relatives.
