The Kabale District LCV Chairperson, Patrick Besigye Keihwa has urged men to champion Family Planning uptake, so as to plan well for their families.

Keihwa made the appeal yesterday while opening a two day orientation of the Kabale District Family Planning Advocacy Working Group on Advance Family Planning – AFP Smart Advocacy held at Cephas Inn Kabale in Kabale
Municipality.

He observed that by men embracing family planning, couples will have room to ensure good child spacing thus giving them the chance to plan for a better and prosperous future.

Keihwa said that several men in the district are shying away from Family
Planning methods such as vasectomy claiming that they are harsh compared to the methods used by women such as inject able contraceptives, pills and implants among others.

The acting Kabale District Health Officer, Dr. Alfred Besigensi, said that most men are reluctant on Family Planning methods due to culture and religious beliefs.

He expressed the need for men to know their choices such as condom use and vasectomy especially for men who want to stop having children. Besigensi said that only four people used vasectomy from January to September.
