Kampala High Court’s Civil Division has given the Attorney General of Government William Byaruhanga upto Wednesday this week to explain the whereabouts of National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre cum businessman Bruno Francis Bazibu.
This after his representive Ebila Hillary Nathan appeared before Justice Emmanuel Baguma claiming he had not got instructions from the AG to proceed with this matter having been allocated the file this morning; and therefore needed more time to file a reply in this case.
Bazibu’s Father Baguma Grace and Bazibu’s Wife Fiona Namazzi are accusing the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director of the Chieftancy of Military Intelligence (CMI), the Commandant of the Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Attorney General of Government of having information leading to his whereabouts.
Namazzi a resident of Bwebajja along Entebbe road argues that her husband was arrested on the 31st October, 2020 by SFC Officers while at Okello House in Nakasero where he had gone to attend a meeting.
That since then, her husband has been held in illegal detention for more than 48 hours within which a suspect has to be produced before court and that the only calls they are getting are those that are asking them for a ransom of a billion shillings in order to release her husband.
Namazzi further claims that on 11th November, 2020, SFC Soldiers attached to Kajjansi Police Station conducted a search at their house but still they would not let her see or talk to her husband whom she doesn’t know where he is currently detained.
She contends that unless Court intervenes and orders the Attorney General to prevail over his servants to produce her husband, a violation of personal liberty is at stake.
