24 year old John Katumba, the youngest presidential aspirant for the 2021 general elections caused drama when he sprinted to the Kyambogo University Presidential Nomination Grounds after his car got a flat tyre at Spear Motors.
When the youthful aspirant realized that he would not make in on time, he whisked out of the Super Custom car that he was travelling in and sprinted to Kyambogo.
“He showed up with the Shs 20M nomination fees in cash claiming the bank stopped him from banking the fees.” An observer at the Grounds told our Reporter.
He was turned away and informed that he still stood a chance to be nominated tomorrow Tuesday 3rd November 2020 if he came back with proof of payment.
He did not also have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) as part of the requirements for nomination as a presidential candidate.
Katumba is among the 10 aspirants to be cleared by the Electoral Commission (EC) having garnered the much needed signatures (98) from each district.
