“Where Was the Majje?” – MP Semujju Mocks Minister Anite Over NRM Primary Loss

Kiira Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson Ibrahim Semujju Nganda has mocked State Minister of Finance i/c Investment and Privatisation Evelyn Anite for losing the NRM primaries despite ‘having the army on her side.’

While appearing on NBS TV’s Frontline show, a late night political talk show, the FDC man had no kind words for the youthful minister who infamously said that they shouldn’t mess with them (NRM) because they have the majje (army) on their side.

Ms Anite, who is the current Koboko Municipality MP was seriously clobbered in the recent primaries by former Attorney General Francis Ayume’s son, Dr. Charles Ayume.

The minister had been a menace on social media assuring haters that she is the gateway to Koboko and that she was waiting for declaration that she had won because more than 80% of the voters loved her and would vote her in again.

Unfortunately however, on voting day, the voters chose otherwise. Sending her to Taiwan even after she had donated several ambulances to them for use in general health care.

“You said that you have the majje, where were they when you were being ‘unfairly’ defeated like you claim?” Semujju pondered.

He made reference to other areas of Uganda like Sembabule, Isingiro and Ntungamo where elite forces like the Special Forces Command (SFC) that guard VVIPs in the nation were allegedly involved in electoral violence and assured Anite that people in such areas are the ones that should claim that they have the majje.

“For you, you’re here complaining that you were rigged and that people were transferred from as far as Arua to vote you out. Where was the majje when you needed them?” Semujju asked.

Ms Anite, who conceded defeat, said she will be concentrating on ensuring that the NRM chairman and flagbearer President Museveni retains his seat in 2021.

“I had the majje in Koboko. That is why I was able to shame those who anticipated doom in Koboko. The majje respected Pan Africanism. They allowed people from DRC to come and vote.” Anite said.

She said that the NRM will move beyond such individual differences and work together to ensure the bigger win at the end. She blamed the opposition especially Bobi Wine’s People Power for meddling in the election and supporting her opponent over her.

Last week, a section of People Power fans claimed to have registered within the NRM to influence their primaries and vote ‘weak candidates’ that the National Unity Platform (NUP)/ People Power candidates would easily defeat in 2021.
