Makindye Chief Magistrates Court has released on bail the 4 events promoters who are accused of having organised a music show last weekend at Munyonyo, in which Nigerian artists performed and revellers turned up in huge numbers; an act that was in total disregard of Ministry of Health guidelines on the spread of COVID-19.

The four are Ugandan businessmen Ivan Ddungu, Kisakya Phillip,   Benjamin Kabuura and a woman Salima Kim who were sent on remand on Monday this week on charges of doing a negligent act likely to cause  the spread of an infectious disease.

The suspects have today re-appeared before Magistrate Jude Okumu via video conferencing who released each of them on a million shillings cash bail each while their surities have been ordered to sign a non-cash bond of ten million shillings to ensure that the suspects return to Court on 1st February, 2021 as investigations into their case continue.

The group had been jointly charged  with 3 Nigerian artists, Stanely Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and their career manager  Muliwa Awoniyi who are  all residents of Lagos in Nigeria but these had their charges dropped by the DPP yesterday and were immediately released from prison .

Prosecution’s Getrude Apiyo who has  not objected to the Ugandans’ request for bail alleges that  on Saturday 12th December, 2020 at Ddungu Resort in Mulungu in Munyonyo Makindye Division, the suspects flew in Nigerian suspects and held a Concert; an act which would cause the spread of Corona virus.
