State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatisation, Hon. Evelyn Anite has spoken out about her plans after bitterly losing the Koboko Municipality NRM Primary to newcomer Dr. Charles Ayume.

Anite, who had been so sure she was pulling the victory home, was dumbfounded when the electorate chose to ‘honour’ former Attorney General Francis Ayume’s memory and voted his son instead of her.

In her first communication on social media post the election, Anite has made it clear that she won’t seek election as an Independent but would rather concentrate on helping the NRM Chairman President Museveni retain his seat in 2021.

“Fellow Country men and women, I bring you warm greetings from a not so sunny but beautiful Koboko today. I want to reassure all the NRM comrades that stood for election as candidates that I stand shoulder to shoulder with you as some commiserate whilst others celebrate. We must not lose focus of the primary goal we set out to achieve. The NRM Party elections must not divide us. A house divided will fall. NRM is a mission led party that espouses peace, stability, reconciliation and vision.”

She rallied all the participants to put aside their personal disappointments (especially those like her that feel were unfairly edged out) She said that in the NRM family, there are no vanquished and that they’re are all victors.

“We must therefore stand together and support our Chairman H.E Kaguta Museveni and our Party. We need a strong NRM Parliament to deliver on our Manifesto. We need to create dignified jobs for millions of young peopple & bring about meaningful social economic transformation for the majority of Ugandans. We can’t leave anyone behind. We have come too far to start to fail our party.”

Anite was last Friday floored in the Koboko Municipality NRM Primary after assuring the media that she is the gateway to Koboko. The voters however, couldn’t have any of that and they voted her out overwhelmingly even after she had poured millions of shillings into the campaign.
