Kamuli Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Hajjat Rehema Watongola is dead. Watongola succumbed to the COVID-19 infection from Mulago National Referral Hospital on Saturday morning where she had been admitted, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.Watongola becomes the second MP to succumb to the virus after Pallisa District Woman MP, Faith Alupo who passed on in September. The deceased’s husband Badiru Watongola, who doubles as the Kamuli Municipality NRM chairperson said the legislator was admitted with breathing difficulties. Police on Thursday 12th November blocked presidential candidate Nancy Kalembe from launching her manifesto on grounds that she was not supposed to carry out campaigns in Jinja city. Kalembe was scheduled to launch her manifesto in Jinja town on Monday but she postponed it to Thursday. However, officials argue that they had not received any official communication confirming the changes. The budget parliamentary committee has discovered that the two radio samples at the factory that had won the bid to supply radios to all the households across the country were imported from China via DHL, a global logistics company. The radios are intended to allow easy access to home learning by students during the pandemic especially in rural areas where people can’tafford to purchase them on their own. Over 50 telecom agents and records officials were arrested from various companies over the recent hacking of Pegasus, a third party aggregator in financial transactions run by MTN, Airtel, Stanbic bank and Bank of Africa. The operation that was carried out by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) followed the hacking of the Pegasus Technologies system on October 3rd 2020 that saw transactions worth 10 billion shillings authorized to more than 2,000 MTN and Airtel simcards. It was chaos as tear gas and bullets rocked Kitgum town Wednesday as police blocked the National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi wine from accessing campaign grounds.
