Rubanda District LCV Chairman Mr. Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema has declared that he will run as an Independent for the Rubanda East County National Resistance Movement (NRM) MP slot. This was after the party EC declared incumbent Rubanda East Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Henry Ariganyira Musasizi as NRM Party flag bearer for the said constituency. Residents in Kabale Municipality are accusing electricity distributor UMEME Limited over unreliable power supply for the last two weeks. The residents who depend on electricity claim that they are unable to do their work because of the unstable power supply. The Supreme Court has upheld the 30 year jail sentence handed to a man who killed his 3 year old son and threw his lifeless body in a pit latrine. Five Justices of the Court of Appeal, sitting as the Constitutional Court have dismissed a petition filed in 2011 by Dr. Kiiza Besigye against the Attorney General (Government) challenging actions of the Police Force detaining him at his residence under the pretext of preventive arrest. A medical representative with the Joint Medical Store (JMS), Mr. Henry Ssenfuma has been sent on remand to Kitalya Government Prison for stealing 1,600 packs of Ampicillin/Cloxacillin drugs worth Shs 8M. Criminal Summons have been issued to Ms. Sylvia Muwebwa Ntambi, the Chairperson Equal Opportunities Commission to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court on 7th October, 2020 and answer 3 counts that include conspiracy to defraud and corruption. Muwebwa is jointly charged with nine other Commission Officials who are facing 26 counts that include Embezzlement, and Causing Financial Loss of Shs 245.5M to government.
