Start Hub Africa, a German founded company based in Uganda majors in entrepreneurship and was mainly started to help raise the ideas of students in entrepreneurship and innovations.

It carries out annual entrepreneurship pitching competitions in different universities across Africa.

This year’s competitions were held at the Banda based Kyambogo University on 7th March where eight universities participated including Makerere University, the hosts Kyambogo University, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU), Ndejje University, Nkumba University, Kampala International University (KIU) and Muteesa 1 Royal University.

The “Happy Yoghurt” project, invented by a fourth year Food Science and Nutrition student at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) Ibra Namona emerged the best.

His innovation was a type of yoghurt that was made out of soya beans instead of dairy products. He was awarded 5 million Uganda shillings to help him push his product and idea further and in the furtherance of his dreams.

Clarke Mukite, also a student at IUIU doing the same course came fourth in the competition.
