Kasese Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Winnie Kizza has announced that she will not be seeking another parliamentary term in the upcoming 2021 general elections.

She revealed the development while in interview with the press on Tuesday July, 14th 2020.

“I have continuously talked about overstaying in power, I will not be different if I sought office this time”. She said.

Ms Kizza said that much as the people of Kasese still wanted her to represent them in Parliament as a Woman MP, it is high time some other person takes over.

The former Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) said it is time she gives a chance to another leader to represent the people of Kasese. She acknowledges that she has loved all the time she has been parliament representing the people of Kasese because the have always been backing her.

Kizza, now a close confidant of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) leader Gen. Mugisha Muntu, has thanked the people of Kasese for the support that they have always rendered and given her since 2006.

She has been in parliament since 2006 and has so far served three terms as the Kasese Woman Member of Parliament.

She bows out as the first female Leader of Opposition in Parliament in the history Uganda. Winnie Kizza says, she will remain active with the forces of change but will not offer herself for political positions.
