A section of voters in Sheema Municipality have rejected knickers provided by former Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner Dicksons Kateshumbwa’s campaign team insisting that they create burning sensations in their privates.
The voters, appearing before the media, called out to Katesh to go back and collect the panties because they’re burning their privates – a feeling they claim they don’t feel when they wear other knickers.
One of the voters that our snoops in Sheema identified as Maggie was bitter that the aspirant was giving out knickers to youths instead of empowering them to be better in life.
“My vote should not be bought by knickers. My vote should be able to help me as a youth achieve a grounding in life so as to do something good for myself in future, instead of giving me knickers that won’t be of any large purpose to me.” Maggie told the press.
The women have since called upon Katesh to go back to them and collect his knickers because they’re not serving them any purpose.
A team that identified themselves as Friends of Katesh distributed knickers among the female electorate of Sheema Municipality along with sanitary pads and towels.
They observed that after giving the voters sanitary pads, they realised that it may be hard to observe proper hygiene without knickers which they added as a “by the way.”
They have since been at the receiving end of open criticism with some political observers arguing that the act downgrades the dignity of women.
Kateshumbwa is battling Science and Technology Minister Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye for the position of Sheema Municipality MP among others. The Minister is also the incumbent after beating FDC’s Virginia Mugyenyi in a by election in 2018.
