Investigations into the case in which Business Tycoon Abid Alam is alleged to have conspired with a Police Officer to defeat the course of justice have been completed, according to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and the trial has been scheduled to start on 18th November, 2020.
It is alleged that D/SP Wanyama Wilber Osteen attached to Wamala Regional Police Headquarters on 8th April, 2020 between Mityana Regional Police Office and Ntinda in Kampala conspired with Abid Alam to defeat the course of justice by unlawfully releasing confidential documents to Abid Alam in a Police file over destruction of property in a land dispute with some residents in Kassanda District.
Prosecution’s Janet Kitimbo informed Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Acaa Ketty Joan that investigations into this case are complete and the State is ready to bring witnesses on the said date.
Abid Alam and Detective Wanyama also mantain that they are innocent and through their Lawyer Paul Luticia have applied to court to order the State avail them with full disclosure of the Prosecution’s intended evidence so that they can ably prepare their defence.
Both Abid Alam and Detective Wanyama were present in Court and Magistrate Acaa extended their bail to 18th November, 2020 for hearing of their case.
