A taxi registered under licence plates UAL 457L has put down a man in uniform at Bugema traffic check point on Mbale-Tororo highway.
In fright and as a way of running for dear life, the operator whose names are not yet known fled off leaving the taxi at the point of accident, which will assist the security to get to a point of a clear investigation.
Lance Corporal Jacob Sanyu, attached to Bugema Barracks in Mbale was on an operation implementing the commonly abused presidential directives.
According to Jude Wandera, a spokesperson of the forces in the region, the officer was knocked as he was crossing the road to the other side hence sustaining serious leg injuries.
The casualty has been taken to Bombo for proper medical care.
