Journalists belonging to NBS TV and other media houses are nursing wounds and counting losses after thugs in Lira City smashed glasses of their moving vehicle during the NUP/People Power rally and looted them clean. Those that tried to resist were beaten to pulp before Police came to their rescue.
Journalist Daniel Lutaaya of NBS and his cameraman were the most affected as the over-zealous Bobi Wine supporters who seemed to cheer NBS on, tricked them into slowing down and they robbed them thoroughly.
“Robbed in Lira. NBS Car vandalized. Cameraman bleeding, Laptop stolen, phone stolen. We are however all safe and sound.” Lutaaya tweeted.
The NTV team that was led by Patrick Mukasa was not spared either as a similar gang invaded them while cheering them on before they started pulling away their cameras to run with them and attempting to break their glass.
The goons were however unsuccessful as the NTV driver managed to speed off and abort their mission unexpectedly.
Other journalists that could not afford the luxury of owning a car to trail the Presidential Candidate, were robbed clean. They were barely kept with even their pants on.
Robert Kyagulanyi traversed the areas of Lira, and Oyam today where he preached his message of change. Bobi Wine, as he is more commonly known, urged the people to vote in large numbers and guard their votes.
“I want to come back to Lira as the new President of Uganda.” Kyagulanyi said to a cheering audience.
