Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has revealed that there will be no vigil for departed Maj Gen Kasirye Ggwanga who passed on yesterday.
The late Ggwanga was admitted and had been receiving treatment from Nakasero hospital in Kampala where he breathed his last.
According to UPDF spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire, the decision was reached upon following a meeting with family members of the late who agreed to the vigil would not ensure social distancing.
“The body of the fallen General shall leave Bombo Military Hospital on the burial day up to the burial ground where a brief burial program will be held with a sizable number of family members and military officials selected to attend to avoid crowding.” Brig Karemire said.
COVID-19 preventive measures such as hand sanitizing, social distancing and face masking will be observed with the joint security forces during the burial ceremonies.
