Newcomer Dr. Charles Ayume a son of former Attorney General Francis Joash Ayume has emerged victorious in the just concluded Koboko Municipality National Resistance Movement (NRM) Primary.

Dr. Ayume defeated State Minister of Privatisation Evelyn Anite who is most famous for moving the sole candidature motion in the NRM that saw President Museveni contest unopposed in 2011.

A then Member of Parliament representing youths, Anite rose through the ranks to be appointed state minister and later won overwhelmingly as MP for Koboko Municipality.

In results that The Ugandan Wire has obtained, Anite polled 5851 votes as compared to Dr. Ayume’s 7384.

She goes down as a strong fighter who fought tooth and nail in the election as she had earlier predicted that she would trounce her opponent with over 85% of the vote.
