The Uganda Police has released cautioning messages meant for the public in light of what they termed as intelligence that a section of Ugandans want to riot in Kampala tomorrow.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango, the security organ has received information that members alleging to be in the association of boda boda riders are in final stages of plans to demonstrate over the continued ban on boda bodas to carry passengers in light of the fight against COVID-19.
In a statement dated today Sunday June 7, SP Onyango revealed that Police has received credible information that opportunistic people are mobilising hooligans to disguise them as boda boda riders and have them carry out demonstrations next week.
“They are mobilising boda boda operators to disrupt the government efforts in coronavirus containment at the time when there are systematic processes to ease the lock down,” Onyango revealed.
He warned the public against taking part in the arrangements, insisting that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.
