MPs Who Have Returned 20M COVID-19 Money Compiled

According to Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG), only about sixty three (63) Members of Parliament (MPs) have so far returned the Shs20m they received as COVID-19 facilitation.

The national legislature has a total of 458 MPs altogether, but as of May 8th 2020, Shs1,249,000,000 had been returned and Shs8,751,000,000 was yet to be returned.

CSBAG assures the press that their research is based on collections by their field officers, news reports, and some MPs who have contacted them.

Court ordered all MPs to return the money after Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga sued the institution for misappropriating tax payer’s money in a crisis.
