MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Bobi Wine, has joined other high profile citizens to mourn the passing on of the the now former Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) boss Med Kaggwa who passed on earlier this morning.
The People Power leader has praised him for being one of the very few people that came out to visit him in Makindye after he had been arrested following the incidents in Arua by election.
“Very saddened by the passing of Hon. Med Kaggwa, Chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission. During the Arua ordeal, Med visited me in military detention & told the world what was going on. He did his best, under very difficult circumstances to promote rights. Rest well!” Kyagulanyi tweeted.
During the Arua by election that brought Kassiano Wadri to Parliament, Bobi Wine and colleague MP Francis Zaake were arrested brutally after their supporters allegedly stoned President Museveni’s convoy who was also in the area canvassing for votes.
The late passed on earlier this morning when he fainted from his car while in jam along the Mulago roundabout. He was rushed to Case Clinic but doctors could not save his life.
He fainted while locked inside his car and onlookers had to break the windows to get him out.
His body is currently undergoing postmortem at Mulago and burial arrangements are already underway. If he is not buried today, he will be buried tomorrow at 2pm in Mpigi according to a family statement.
