Mao Promises to Fix “Poor” Tourism Roads in Kigezi

The Democratic Party (DP) Presidential Candidate, Norbert Mao, has promised to fix bad tourism roads in the Kigezi Region once he is elected President.

Addressing a press conference at Cephas Inn Kabale in Kabale Municipality over the weekend, Mao who is also the DP President revealed that the tourism roads in the region are appalling, yet the tourism industry contributes a lot of money to the country.

He said that he will decentralize road construction and maintenance and equip local governments with heavy road machinery that will work on the
roads in the region.

Mao added that the DP manifesto has a comprehensive plan to address
inaccessible roads in the region to boost agriculture production, tourism,
enhance access to commercial markets and improve access to social services.

The Former Gulu District LCV Chairman also pledged to open up Kigezi University in the region saying that other sub regions such as Busoga have Busoga University, Teso region has Teso University and Ankole has Mbarara University of Science And Technology; adding that he will ensure that his government opens up Kigezi University in the region.

He also promised to revamp the traditional schools in the Kigezi sub
region.
