Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) Nigerian striker, John Odemwegu is currently behind police bars over what has been termed as unlawful confinement of three girls in his house.

The incident happened over the weekend when Jinja road police responded to an incident after the KCCA striker had unlawfully confined three Makerere University Business School (MUBS) students at his home in Mutungo-Bbiina Kampala .

John and his girlfriend had made plans of meeting on Saturday night but surprisingly she turned up with her two friends which annoyed him since he hadn’t made plans with the other two ladies.

When time for them to leave approached, John refused, confiscated and switched off their phones. As if that was not enough, he locked them inside his room for almost 10 hours from 9pm up to 7am the following day with unknown intentions.

“He had invited his girlfriend who came in the company of two other friends at his rented home. At around 9pm, the girls asked to leave but he refused, confiscated and switched off their phones.” Mr Fred Enanga the police spokes person explained.

The three victims were identified as Grace Nakibuuka, Margret Namutebi and Joan Mirembe, all students at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Nakawa.

He said on interrogation, the Nigerian footballer claimed he feared to release the three girls at night but also accused his girlfriend whom he had known for five days of dating other men.

“This highlights the hidden reality of many young women’s relationships and a stark reminder of how young adults are vulnerable and need to be more mindful about their security,” Enanga advised.

John’s file has been forwarded to the resident state attorney and any time from now, he will be arraigned before the Nakawa Magistrates court.

The 25 -year- old Nigerian forward joined the Uganda Premier League defending champions this season from Nigerian top division side Rivers United.
