Outspoken Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kasirye Gwanga has revealed plans to support the Kyadondo East MP Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, if he contests again in 2026.
The retired former Prisoner of War in the protracted National Resistence Army (NRA) bush war (1980-85) made the statements while appearing before NBS TV’s Morning Breeze show with journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala.
The general notes that he is aware Bobi Wine has already declared intentions to run in 2021 but he will not support him because he has lacked control of his supporters.
“He needs to control his crowd and I am training him to do that. His crowd is full of hooligans, phone snatchers and people that are more interested in disorganizing the city by burning tyres,” Kasirye Ggwanga said.
Asked what lessons he was taking the youthful politician in, the general preferred to remain silent about it, citing the need to remain discrete as the same information can be used by others.
