Have you ever wanted to eat out with your loved one and can’t figure out a place to go to. Ladies don’t like to pick restaurants to eat, either because they want you to pick within your budgetary provisions or because they want you to be decisive. Who knows? They could even just be plainly lazy about the subject.

As such, consider us your Knights in Shinning Armour. We are going to profile a few fancy restaurants within Kampala and neighbouring districts for you to pick from once she gets tired of that one place you always take her to.

  1. Cafe Javas

If you have done breakfast, lunch and dinner dates so often, you must surely know how convenient Javas is. From the variety and heaviness of the dishes, to the cost efficiency and neat service, these guys know how to retain customers.

The only “naye” about Javas is how public and busy it can be. If you are taking your friend’s girl out for dinner without his knowledge or have anything shady going on, it is not the place for you. But just to make you feel better, people mind their business. No one will go there to just stare at people, the class of the Diner doesn’t permit that.

Javas breakfast is around Shs. 25,000 with lunch and dinner going up to Shs. 35,000. And between me and you, there are no delivery fees when you order off the Cafe Javas website (wink wink).

Javas has branches at Kira Road (City Oil Kamwokya), Lugogo Mall, City Oil Nakawa, Oasis Mall, City Oil Bombo Road, Namirembe Road, Kampala Road, Parliamentary Avenue and Capital Shoppers Nakawa.

2. Food Hub

This one is located in the heart of the city, in the exact spot that housed famous eat out spot, Nandos restaurant at Cargen House. Best renown for their tasty pizza and buy-one-get-one-free offers on the same, Food Hub is opportune for a date as well.

They have neatly arranged seats covering the interior area. There are several sitting options ranging from two chairs facing each other, table of four, comfy wide couches and yes, ‘one-man-army’ seats for those who prefer to eat their ka-money in peace.

For as low as Shs. 15,000 you can eat satisfyingly at Food Hub. They are a fast food restaurant and so, pizzas, chicken, chips, burgers and ice cream are their dealings.

The only negative about Food Hub is that orders are placed at the counter, a concept that a first timer may not easily know. If you’re not lucky and a waiter or waitress informs you of that, you may wait for the menu till the next day.

3. Plum Cafe and Restaurant

Just over a month old, Plum Cafe and Restaurant has opened in Naalya (after MOGAS) at Delight House. The fancy diner is targeting foodies in Ntinda, Kisasi, Naalya, Namugongo, Bweyogerere, Kyambogo, Kireka and neighbouring Kampala suburbs.

They, like any other fancy diner have an exotic menu (so don’t expect steamed matooke ordinarily) unless it is on Sunday when they serve the Special Family Buffet.

Plum Cafe has luxurious but rather affordable Continental and Indian Cuisines. Their food menu ranges from Shs. 25,000 to 45,000. While you are there, try their cocktail juice. Yummy!

4. Levels Kitchen

Levels Kitchen is the restaurant section of Levels Lounge located in Kamwokya, opposite the Uganda Museum. On their special days, Levels sells out on bookings and you may not get awesome attention if you go unannounced.

They provide an outdoor dining experience with a laid back yet upscale atmosphere that lets you dine in comfort. They serve local, continental, oriental and fast food dishes infused with creativity and flair.

Once you taste their buffet, your life can never be the same again. You will have mirror images of that delicious food in your face throughout your life.

5. Capital Kitchen

Located on the storeyed Thobani Centre on Jinja Road, opposite Orient House, Capital Kitchen offers an exclusive and indulgent dining experience.

They provide some of the best African Grills, mouth melting Tandoori Kebabs, Shawarma /Turkish Kebabs, the Teepynyaki/Sushi/ Dimsum/Legendary Stir Fry and the Thai Cuisine.

Capital Kitchen also provides a wide variety of breakfast contents to start off your day.

For less than Shs. 40,000 you can dine exclusively at Capital Kitchen for a lasting experience.
