A prominent businessman, Yiga Moosa, who has been severally mentioned in the ongoing dispute between City Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has refuted claims that he is entangled in the matter which is scheduled to be determined by court on August 27th, 2020.

Businessman Moosa, who operates from Entebbe and deals with produce amongst other businesses said he was shocked to see his name being dragged into the matter that he says he has no knowledge of whatsoever.

“We have absolutely no issue with DTB Bank and we know they are a reliable and professional partner in business since they have supported us to grow some of our businesses” Mr Moosa said.

The businessman says he started banking with DTB in 2016 and in 2017, there is a small matter that arose but was settled amicably which is the right way to do business as partners.

“I had an issue of delayed repayments with DTB but this matter was resolved and all the payments were settled. I do not see why anyone would now want to drag my name in their own disputes. If anyone is in default, he should pay his obligation or discuss on how to pay since everyone is facing some hardships during this period”.  He added.

The 35 year old City Tycoon and Businessman (Hamis Kiggundu) is in a wrangle with DTB over a loan repayment going to the tune of Shs. 39.7Bn that according to the bank he has failed to pay.

DTB, in a statement, asserts that the tycoon borrowed billions of Shillings from the bank that he has since failed to pay and is just multiplying suits to avoid the payments.

For his part, the tycoon claims that he repaid his loan to the bank in full because they “recovered the full amount” from his Shillings and Dollar accounts, a claim that the bank says is misguided and false.
