The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will today, 7th January 2021, be in Kayunga district commissioning the newly renovated and upgraded Kayunga General Hospital, now a referral health facility.
The hospital was constructed and upgraded from a general hospital to a referral hospital to handle specialized medical referral needs of the people of Kayunga district.
“Kayunga hospital has been renovated and upgrade to a referral hospital. I will commission it today. For our radio/TV programme, I will speak to our people of Teso this evening,” the president announced via his social media.
Museveni is also expected to officiate the commissioning of the completed Isimba public bridge. The project comprises two bridges connected by Koova island along the Victoria Nile connecting Kayunga and Kamuli districts.
Museveni will proceed to address the people of Teso sub-region in Ateso language.
Yesterday, the President officiated the construction of Mityana-Mubende road. This road is a gateway of Uganda’s goods into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) market.
Uganda’s trade with DRC stands at 550 million US dollars. A vital link on the National grid, the 86-kilometer road contributes immensely to Uganda’s economic growth.
Later in the evening yesterday, the President addressed the people of Acholi and Lango sub-regions via radio.
Speaking to the people, Museveni urged them against voting out of excitement.
“Some countries have voted for change out of excitement. In Liberia, the citizens voted for a footballer, but it didn’t take them a year to regret. They say their leader has turned into a dictator and so many things they hoped for have not happened,” he said.
Museveni has been traversing the country canvassing for votes ahead of the presidential elections come January 14th 2021.
