Civil Aviation Authority Issues Guidelines For Reopening of the Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued guidelines/ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed by passengers as Entebbe International Airport is on the edge of reopening.

The reopening comes after the airport has been closed for six consecutive months. Among the crucial guidelines in the SOPs, all the departing passengers will be required to present authentic COVID-19 PCR test certificates issued 120 hours before travel.

For passengers arriving, they are expected to have valid negative PCR COVID-19 results from an accredited laboratory in the country  issued 72 hours before taking a flight to Uganda.

Its also stipulated that passengers and airport users will be subjected to temperature screening on entry to the airport and in the departure hall.

“It’s mandatory for all passengers to wear face masks but also maintain 1.5 meters apart from each other with in the terminal”, the notice indicates.

According to the SOPs, Ugandans retuning back will be subjected to individual COVID-19 testing which costs $64 approximately Ug shs 245,000  and maintain self quarantine until when results are out.

According to the last presidential address, the head of state declared that airports and other borders of the country will open on Thursday 1st October 2020.
