Chaos as Kabale Municipality Voters Reject Outcome of NRM Primary Polls

Chaos as Kabale Municipality Voters Reject Outcome of NRM Primary Polls

A loop in the outcome polls of a one Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha who is one of the most preferred candidates in the Kabale District NRM Primaries together with his most competitive opponent Major General Timothy Sabiiti Mutebile has just made every Kamugisha Diehard turn red including the candidate himself.

The whole drama begun when Kabale District Registrar, a one Mr Keitaba was announcing the outcome of the poll at every village having most of them in Kamugisha’s favour but on reaching Southern Division, Mwanjari Ward, the out come of the polls for Constituency MP read;

Major General Timothy Mutebile – 413

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha – 20

Sheikh Kamugisha being Kabale Municipality’s most favoured candidate, the difference seemed too high to be true. This of course aroused anger among people thus throwing words at the whole NRM system and village registrars for cheating in broad daylight.

This chaos definitely couldn’t not allow the District Registrar to continue reading the results as the results for that specific village seemed very fishy for him too.

He openly said that the difference was too high and unrealistic according to the register and in relation with the Woman MP results from the same village that had a some 26 as the total number of voters.

Due to this, the Village Registrar who recorded the votes was summoned and he claimed that,the Woman MP elections were held first and at the moment only few voters (26) were available. He adds that as they were tallying the votes for Woman MPs, that’s when a mass of people arrived for the elections.

According to Kamugisha, it is unrealistic for 400 plus voters to come for the elections at a duration of 20 minutes and fortunately most of the officials agree with him that there is a very big fault in the outcome of the results for that village.

The District Registrar Mr Keitaba tried calming down the voters by promising that the Legal Advisor in NRM Secretariat will handle the matter immediately.

However, the voters are so furious and are constantly asking the Village Registrar to return the money that he was bribed with to cheat the votes. Some village members with anger openly witness that the village Registrar was seen locked in a certain room with some people after the elections and forced him to take the results at the Division Offices.

Apparently, the matter will be looked into ‘legally’ tomorrow and we will keep you updated.
