This website has received exclusive information that the ancestral Kasubi Tombs of the Kingdom of Buganda, are on fire 10 years after an initial fire almost put them to ash in March 2010.
The Tombs in Kampala, Uganda, contain the the burial grounds of four Kabakas (Kings of Buganda) and other members of the Baganda royal family.
Police Fire Brigade trucks and personnel are already on the site, doing everything possible to put out the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Buganda Prime Minister (Katikiro) Charles Peter Mayiga, has through the years been traversing all and sundry securing “etofaali” to rebuild the Tombs after the 2010 misfortune.
The site remains an important spiritual and political site for the Baganda and is key for the national tourism sector. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 2001.
