The Uganda Police Force has revealed that Robert Kyagulanyi’s lawyers visited him today at his home in Magere in a statement maintaing that the National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential Candidate will stay under house arrest.
“Today, at around 3:30 PM, a total of 8 lawyers led by Hon. Asuman Basalirwa who form part of the Hon. Kyagulanyi’s legal team visited him at his home in Magere,” Police revealed through its social media.
The Police revealed that the lawyers also carried with them, food stuffs for the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, who has been claiming via his social media of running out of food.
“They in addition carried food items and essential commodities for the family, in supplement to the daily purchases,” Police added.
Bobi Wine, who has been denied leaving his home and access by anyone for 8 days now, following the presidential elections, is being restricted for security reasons according to Police.
Still according to Police, not much will change with the security detail at his residence in Magere, saying the situation stays the same pending the outcome of the ruling of court which will be issued on Monday, 25th January 2021.
“We continue to maintain our preventive action and cover in the area, as we await the outcome of the writ of Habeas Corpus, before the High court in Kampala,” Police revealed.
Bobi Wine, according to his social media post today morning, still holds that he won the presidential election of January 14thlast week, disputing the results and maintaining that the election was widely rigged by the incumbent General Kaguta Yoweri Museveni.
“Yes, for standing and defeating General Museveni in an election, which he resoundingly rigged. I am still under house arrest 8 days later! I thank all friends in Uganda and abroad who continue to stand with us, until we put an end to this indignity. Uganda will be free,” Bobi Wine tweeted.
