Presidentail hopeful, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has taken to the campaign trail with bullet proof attire for fear of being sniped.
Kyagulanyi has been battling with the security for the past days during his trails over “disrespecting” the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedurs (SOPs) against COVID-19 and it’s to this fact that bullets, teargas and loss of lives have been part of his trail.
The most recent encounter he has had with the Police was in Kayunga where one of his EC assigned body guards a one ASP Kato was injured in the head by a rubber bullet. His producer and long time comrade Dan Magic didn’t survive the scene either.
In that Kayunga scuffle, what is suspected to be a hand held grenade was thrown at Kyagulanyi only to go off a few inches from where he was standing.
The developments have accumulated lots of fear among citizens, moreso those to his destination. Kyagulanyi has survived since the Arua incident where his late driver Kawuma was shot in a fracus with the presidential convoy.
A day back, when his producer Dan Magic got injured in a fracus with security on their way to Jinja, Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Francis Zaake survived by a whisker. It’s such events that have prompted the artiste turned politician into acts of survival.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for the Lord is with me!” Bobi Wine posted earlier today.
How will our children be told that a time reached when a duly dominated presidential candidate had to dress like a military combatant, in order to go for his campaigns? Mulimba mutufuze bubi nnyo namwe!
David Lewis Rubongoya, NUP Secretary General.
Bobi Wine is campaigning in Kibuku, Budaka and Manafwa today.
