Presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu also known as Bobi Wine was today blocked by Police in Kayunga where he was scheduled to hold a rally.

Bobi Wine’s entourage was greeted by tens of teargas canisters and live bullets as soon as it arrived in Kayunga this morning.

Several people were injured during the scuffles between police and Bobi Wine’s supporters including Bobi Wine’s body guard, a one Kato, who was assigned to him by the Electoral Commission(EC) and musical producer and Bobi’s longtime friend Dan Magic. The body guard sustained severe injuries on his head while Dan magic was wounded on his face.

The two were rushed to Nazigo Health center 3 in Kayunga District where their supporters followed them to ascertain their condition. This prompted Police to fire teargas and bullets to disperse the crowds outside of the health center where Bobi Wine and his team were.

Earlier, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president had opted to walk to the campaign venue after being stopped by Police which he accused of unlawfully blocking his processions.

“They have blocked all the roads. The Electoral Commission knows I should be talking to the people of Kayunga, but they (Police) have blocked all the main roads, they have blocked us from accessing the town. Now even after chasing us to the dusty roads, they have followed us and blocked us here,” Bobi Wine said as he led the way on foot to the venue.
