The Buganda Road Court has declined to charge Ms Nana Namata Annet a Human Rights Activist and Breast feeding mother; whom Police has brought to Court today while carrying her; as she complained of great internal pain in her chest, bark and lower abdomen with difficulty in passing urine.

Nana who accused Police of torturing her, was arrested yesterday along with two 19 year old students Ahebwa Prosper and Nabuyanda Solomon in Ntinda a Kampala suburb protesting against Police brutality.

They were holding placards with words,” END POLICE BRUTALITY”.

Nana who could not sit or walk was produced before Grade One Magistrate Marion Mangeni who refused to entertain her Plea Taking saying she could not do it in the condition she was; and instead released her on a Court Bond of Shs 1M non cash.

The Magistrate also ordered her Lawyer Susan Nabirye Lumu from LDC Legal Aid Clinic to ensure that Nana gets proper treatment and report back to court on 3rd November, 2020.

However the accused students had to be sent on remand at Kitalya Government Prison because Police produced them before a wrong court.

Nana and the boys having committed the offence from Ntinda; the Magistrate said it was either Kampala City Hall Court or Nakawa Chief Magistrate Court where they had to appear; and that transfer of the case file to the proper jurisdiction was going to take immediate effect.

Ahebwa Prosper and Nabuyanda Solomon have pleaded not guilty to charges of being a common nuisance allegedly committed yesterday 21st October at Ntinda in Kampala.

Prosecution led by Patricia Cingtho alleges that Nana Namata Annet, Ahebwa Prosper and Nabuyanda Solomon did conduct themselves in a manner that caused inconvenience to the public while in exercise of their rights.
