The Uganda Police headquarters in Kampala will be temporarily closed for the next three (3) days after one of the senior officers Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. While addressing the media in Kampala on Monday, the Police Force mouth piece Fred Enanga, said the three-day closure will allow for COVID-19 disinfection and testing of personnel for the virus. Uganda could be headed for a second phase of lockdown following a rise in Covid-19 cases in the originating from local communities. While addressing journalists on Saturday evening, the Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Achieng said that Uganda had registered 318 Covid-19 cases which becomes the highest number to be registered in a day ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Uganda. Controversial and renowned city lawyer Male Mabirizi has petitioned the office of the Speaker and clerk to parliament challenging the appointment of Richard Buteera as the Deputy Chief Justice. On Thursday, President Museveni appointed Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo and Supreme Court Justice Richard Buteera as the new Chief Justice and Deputy Chief Justice respectively. Embattled security force, the Local Defence Unit (LDU) are set to be redeployed after completing a two -week refresher course at the Kakiri Military Barracks, the UPDF has said. In a press statement released today, the new army spokesperson, Brig.
