The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has won the Presidency of Uganda’s oldest diaspora association in North America, the Ugandan North American Association – UNAA. NRM’s Henrietta Wamala beat her closest competitor, National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Lydia Natolo to clinch her second term at the helm of UNAA. The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has blasted Members of the 11th Parliament for making unresearched and baseless submissions. Some of the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) that government last week announced suspended have said they are being witch-hunted. Last week on Friday, government announced it had halted the activities of 54 NGOs for among other reasons, not submitting annual returns. Mr. Amlan Tumusiime, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Hoima District Local Government and head of the District COVID-19 Taskforce has banned cooking at funerals in Kikuube District. Mr. Tumusiime, in an interview with The Ugandan Wire, said that the Taskforce has learnt that even with the current guidelines of just 20 people at the funerals, locals are violating to feast on foods prepared at the funerals. Katumba Wamala will to a large extent help in investigations to establish the people and motives behind his shooting. Uganda Cranes is 17th in Africa and remains the best in CECAFA region followed by Kenya, Sudan and Rwanda.
