Earlier today evening, the Ministry of Health confirmed the second COVID-19 related death of Uganda generating further fear of restrictions and similar deaths of the novel coronavirus that has covered up the whole world.

The deceased was identified as an 80 year old female who lives in the suburbs of Mengo, Kisenyi lll in Kampala. According to the authorities, the deceased passed away from Mulago National Referral Hospital where she was rushed after her community grew extremely suspicious of her.

Dr. Henry Mwebasa, the Director General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health, who is on the frontline of fighting the deadly disease said, that Ugandans should now understand that COVID-19 is here and stop taking it as a joke or just a mere disease.

“The coronavirus we have is not different from the one in European countries or in African countries which have been severely affected, we need to be more vigilant and adhere to the Ministry of Health directives of sanitizing hands, maintaining social distance and putting on a face mask when ever we want to move out of their homes.” Dr Mwebesa said.

Towards the end of last week, on Thursday, the Ministry of Health announced the first death of covid-19, a 34 year old woman who died in Mbale District in Eastern Uganda.
