27 Youths who were arrested yesterday in protests against the arrest and detention of National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine have been arraigned before Buganda Road Court in Kampala and remanded to Kitalya Government Prison on charges of Incitement of Violence.
These, who were in groups of nine people, appeared before three different Magistrates including Chief Magistrate Miriam Okello Ayo, Grade One Magistrates Doreen Karungi and Dorothy Barigye and they denied the charges.
It is alleged that yesterday 19th November, 2020 at City Square and Nabugabo areas in Kampala, the 27 and others still at large did an act calculated to lead to destruction or damage of property by blocking the roads while stoning people – by reasons of their political opinions.
Prosecution says investigations in this case are complete.
They return to court on 26th, 27th/November and 4th/December/2020 respectively.
