Uganda Cranes reknown Sports fan Jackson Ssewanyana aka Uncle Money has been convicted of manslaughter charges before Buganda Road Court.

Uncle Money who is also the Vice Chairperson Kasubi Zone 4 in Rubaga Division has been convicted together with his Defense Secretary Benson Ssenyonga for causing the death of  Hakim Sirajje Tumusiime a phone dealer at Mutaasa Kafeero plaza in Kampala.

On the fateful date the deceased received a phone call from unknown persons that made him leave his house in Lubya Zone, Rubaga Division and later he was seen with  Ssenyonga at Royal Hotel who then handed him over to Uncle money and his stick wielding youths.

Chief Magistrate Miriam Okello Ayo based on nine Prosecution witnesses to convict the duo including the evidence of boda boda riders who saw Ssenyonga handling the deceased over to Uncle money  who then dragged him to a nearby sweet potato plantation tied his legs and hands with a rope (Kadoya style) and beat him up  accusing him of being a phone thief until Police came to his rescue.

He was later pronounced dead at Mulago hospital. Prosecution’s Timothy Amerit asked Court to sentence them to 30 years in prison on grounds that he has not been remorseful throught the trail and to also  teach leaders not to use their influence in illegal matters.

Court due to reconvene to pass it’s sentence against the convicts who have been on bail through out the trial. The maximum sentence for manslaughter is life imprisonment.
