The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in partnership with Enabel In Uganda have awarded and recognized exhibitors with the best practices at the recently concluded Pearl Of Africa Tourism Expo.
The awards honor the early adopters of the Fair Trade certification, recognize the unwavering commitment to ethical and equitable tourism practices.
According to Lilly Ajarova, UTB, CEO, they looked out for the best sustainable booths, sustainable tourism operations as well as how fair trade was weaved in the daily operations of the tourism enterprises.
Speaking at the awarding dinner, Lucie Carlier, Project Manager of Decent Work and Social Protection at Enabel, noted that there’s need to leverage on the collective efforts to showcase the beauty and richness of Uganda landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage, by preserving and protecting them for generations to come.
“Let us continue to be concerned that sustainability advocate for trends and strategies for progress in collaboration with UTB, Enabel, is deeply committed to bolstering the tourism sector through a comprehensive array of initiatives,” she noted.
Adding, “From product development and marketing to enterprise development skills training, and technical assistance. We are dedicated to ensuring sustainable growth and development within the tourism industry.”
