Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States and his First Lady Melania Trump, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The rather sad news was confirmed by Mr. Trump in a tweet he put out about an hour ago announcing that he’ll be in self isolation.
It also comes just days after a heated Presidential Debate that he had with Democratic Presidential Nominee and former US Vice President Mr. Joe Biden ahead of the re-election in November, 2020.
Mr Trump, who came under controversy in the debate with Biden, was criticized for refusing to condemn white supremacists and taking personal attacks at Mr Biden son who died of cancer.
He was widely considered to have trailed the debate as many polls put him below the 30% mark as compared to Biden.
He has already received supportive messages from supporters and fellow world leaders who encouraged him to stay put and fight off the virus that he calls “Chinese.”
The United States has had over 200,000 Coronavirus deaths, about 1/5 of the total deaths world wide.
