Uganda’s Ministry of Health has confirmed 201 COVID-19 cases from tests that were done on yesterday, September 8, 2020 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,101.
According to a statement from the Ministry, part of the new cases are 198 contacts and alerts.
“Kitgum (80), Kampala (38), Moroto (23), Gulu (13), Amuru (8), Lira (6), Wakiso (6), Kikuube (4), Zombo (4), Amolatar (2), Buikwe (2), Butebo (2), Lamwo (2), Adjumani (2), Arya (1), Kasese (1), Luwero (1), Mukono (1), Butaleja (1) and Nakaseke (1).”
In addition to the above, two Ugandan truck drivers from Elegy point of entry, one returnee from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also got infected with the virus.
“One Kenyan truck driver tested positive for COVID-19 at Malaba point of entry and his entry was not permitted,” the Ministry’s statement further said.
The COVID-19 death toll now stands at 46 while the total recoveries stand at 1, 876. Some 417, 897 people in total have so far been tested for the virus and only 4, 101 have been confirmed to be positive.
