Tayebwa Thomas who allegedly assaulted the UMEME employee early this week as he disconnected him from a transmission line on which he had connected illegally has been constantly dragged by Ugandans on social media over his ‘witchy’ acts.

In a video that has since gone viral, MP Tayebwa is seen questioning a man who had disconnected power in addition to ordering him to lie down and later seen beating him as they counted up to 10 strokes.

However, Peter Kaujju, head of communications at Umeme Ltd. said a case of assault on Ref: SD/87/26/2020 has been reported at Katwe police station.

Here is what Ugandans are saying on social media.

You may stand with him because you're probably "fishing from the same pond", even if he employs all the unemployed youth tomorrow, it will not take away the fact the he presided over an act of torture which is criminal. FYI @UmemeLtd filed a complaint so who do you call a mufere?

Dear @MakerereU, the whole world knows you for your integrity & sober way of doing bss.
Unfortunately, this man who sits on your top most decision-making body, the University Council, doesn't live by those, he is a cheat who steals s/th as basic as electricity from @UmemeLtd… pic.twitter.com/DLB84iYAse
