Examinations body, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has today, Friday 31st January, 2020, released the 2019 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.
A total of 337,720 candidates registered for the 2019 UCE exams according to statistics obtained by this website from UNEB.
The examinations release ceremony is being held at the Office of the President and being presided over the First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Ms Janet Kataha Museveni.
“Out of the 337,720 students who sat the UCE 2019 exams, 144,256 were USE beneficiaries. They make up 42.7% of the number of students who sat the exams.” The UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odong said at the ceremony.
He added that females students have performed better than males in the English language. There has been improved performance in Biology and the body credited schools for that.
“Candidates with special needs have performed well. A total of 410 special needs candidates registered for UCE in 2019. Of these, 36 (Blind) ,87 ( low vision), 6 (deaf), 26 ( dyslexics), 78 ( Physical handicap). 123 comprised of other forms of disability and needed to be given more time.” Prof Mary Okwakol, the UNEB Chairperson said at the ceremony.
A total of 1,262 cases of malpractice were detected and the results have been withheld, according to the UNEB Chair.
