The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has claimed that the overall coverage of the 2024 Census Enumeration was 99 percent.
Speaking to the media at Statistics House, Chris N. Mukiza (PhD), UBOS Executive Director noted that the remaining one percent is attributed to the residents in gates that were not accessible.
He revealed that this will cover working single Household members such as workers in factories and mines, as well as those who refused to be enumerated.
“Raw data shows a significant increase in number of Households with smaller Household size compared to Census 2014,” he said.
Mukiza noted that the Bureau remains committed to the Census Roadmap as it embarks on data processing, editing and analysis.
He explained that the preliminary results will be disseminated on 24th June 2024 to be followed by provisional results on 24th September 2024. The final report will be published on 24th December 2024.
“In line with the internationally accepted best practice, the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) that aimed at validating the coverage and quality of data collected during the main Census enumeration will be conducted in July 2024.” said Mukiza.
PES is an independent statistical activity to be conducted by a team of experts that did not participate in the just concluded Census exercise.
