National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) Dr. Tanga Odoi has declared embattled Labour Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana the winner of the Rushenyi County MP Party Primary.
Speaking at a press conference earlier today, the former Makerere Lecturer told the excited supporters that like he had promised to announce a “winner and not a leader” he has honored his promise and announced Minister Rukutana who polled the most votes.
Rukutana was battling Ms Naome Kabasharira a former Constituent Assembly (CA) representative and former Ntungamo Woman MP.
Rukutana was earlier today morning also granted a 4M cash bail by the Ntungamo Magistrate’s Court as he continues to face prosecution over charges of attempted murder and assault among others.
His sureties were former Minister Jim Muhwezi, MP Micheal Mawanda and Businessman Bob Kabonero.
