The High Court in Kampala has found guilty and consequently convicted a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier on charges of murdering an Eritrean National and Businessman Daniel Michael Weldu in October 2016 and later robbing him of his property.

Captain Mangeni Bumali aka Akeem, attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been convicted together with a lawyer Benon Duncan Lumu and a one Andrew Kisitu.

The three have been convicted by Kampala High Court Justice Flavia Angelin Ssenoga after ruling that prosecution had adduced sufficient evidence to prove that with intent to murder, the convicts caused the death of Weldu.

It was presented by prosecution that the accuseds conspired, after learning that the deceased had loads of monies on his bank account, to abduct him and forcefully get him to append his signature on money withdrawal papers.

They got the money from the bank and murdered him in cold blood. The three were sentenced to 50 years in Jail.
