Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on June, 3 2024 at Gwanda Mall, Kisenyi Parish, Kampala Central, at approximately 6 PM.
It is alleged that Kalyebi Ismail, a security guard attached to SGA, was on duty at Gwanda Mall when he arrested Katongole, whom he suspected to be a criminal.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP Deputy PRO, in the due course, a struggle ensued, and the Katongole overpowered Kalyebi Ismail.
In response, Kalyebi picked up his gun and shot Katongole once in the waist, thereby disabling him.
“Upon receiving information about the incident, the territorial police units of Muzaana and Old Kampala responded to the scene and managed to evacuate the victim to Mulago Hospital, where he is currently admitted with a gunshot wound to the stomach. We have also retrieved CCTV footage to help in the ongoing investigation into what exactly led to the shooting,” said Owoyesigyire.
He noted that Kalyebi Ismail, is currently on the run and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
