The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer and incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was in Nebbi District, West Nile yesterday for his campign programme in the region ahead of the January 14th 2021 election day.
Mr. Museveni met district NRM leaders and mobilizers and campaigned to them scientifically and like Jesus Christ in the Bible, told them to “go and spread the word.”
He told the leaders that he would ordinarily have loved to campaign by stopping and meeting all the people but he can’t because that would be against the set guidelines of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the government in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I do not stop to greet or engage with our supporters, it is not that I am a bad person. When you stop, the people will keep gathering and this is totally against our primary goal in the fight against COVID-19.” Museveni stressed.
He urged the people to support NRM because the party doesn’t look at people’s identity, but looks at the human interest.
“And because of that it is able to produce a united army, unite the politics and bring peace. Because of the peace, we are able to attract investment both local and international, create jobs, produce goods and services, collect more taxes, cause socio-economic transformation. And working with our other African friends to transform the whole continent and build a strong and united Africa.” Museveni said.
“That is why the slogan of “Securing Your Future is not just talk but it is a reality.” He further said.
The President will be in Moyo District todaywhere he will engage with leaders from the Greater Madi area. Later, in the evening, he will address the Madi – speaking people through radio and TV.
