The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has, as of today, registered a some 1500 taxis and 300 buses in a bid to regulate operations ahead of the oepning of public transport tomorrow.
According to reports that this website has obtained, about 500 taxis have been registered to operate to upcountry destinations across the country.
Jinja, Mbale, Kapchorwa, Soroti, Busembatya, lganga, Mayuge, Busia, Gulu, Mpigi, Mbarara, Rushere, Sembabule, Fort Portal, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, lbanda, Kiruhura, Nakasongola, Mubende are some of the towns that taxis and buses have registered to operate to and fro.
The Minister of Kampala Affairs, Betty Amongi has emphasised that it’s only registered vehicles that will be allowed to operate beginning tomorrow.
According to her, taxis that are not registered will not be allocated parks, stages and routes to operate from and urged the operators to go for registration which ends on June 30.
