STATE HOUSE, UGANDA: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a strong warning to new ministers that were announced in his recent cabinet reshuffle. The NRM National Chairman warned his new fleet of ministers from engaging in corruption tendencies as they serve their terms.
The President said that corruption tendencies are a a great betrayal by government officials towards all Ugandans that are desperately yearning for service delivery and implored the public to continue reporting corrupt government officials.
“Congratulations to the new ministers that have taken oath of office today at State House Entebbe. I call upon all ministers and public servants to desist from engaging in any form of corruption. Corruption by any government officials is a great betrayal to Ugandans who are desperately yearning for service delivery. I implore the general public to embrace this fight and report the crooked officials with evidence, as opposed to rumours and we will take action.” President Museveni said.
Mr Museveni also implored the youthful appointees to Cabinet to learn from their older colleagues and serve the country diligently, according to senior presidential press secretary, Mr Don Wanyama.
The cabinet ministers sworn in today include Rafael Magyezi (Local government) & Judith Nabakooba (ICT). State ministers are Beatrice Anywar (Environment), Helen Adoa (Fisheries), Robinah Nabanjja (Health), Denis Obua (Sports), Peter Ogwang (ICT) and Molly Kamukama (Economic Monitoring).
Jackson Kafuuzi (MP) who had been appointed as the Deputy Attorney General was not been sworn in today after his academic documents were questioned by the Parliament’s Appointments Committee that is responsiblr for vetting the appointed ministers.
